Matteo Diego Scarcella Flutist, saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist Flutist, saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist born in ’99, he is active both as a soloist and as a sideman in various musical contexts, from classical to pop music, from Rock to R’n’B and Hip Hop, from mainstream jazz to experimental and avant-garde music .

Graduated in flute with full marks and honors at the Conservatory of Reggio Calabria “F. Cilea” with M° Davide Chiesa, continued studying the flute at the “Lorenzo Perosi” Academy in Biella with M° Davide Formisano, and at the same time attended the two-year Jazz Flute course at the “Girolamo Frescobaldi” Conservatory in Ferrara, with M° Geoff Warren, also studying saxophone with M° Achille Succi

First prize in the “soloists” category at the “Chicco Bettinardi” Jazz music competition in Piacenza in 2023;

Second prize in the “groups” category of the same competition in the 2021 edition;

Award as most promising musician at the “Conad Jazz Contest”, held in Perugia on the stage of Umbria Jazz Festival;

Scholarship of $30,000 awarded during the summer seminars of “Umbria Jazz Clinics”, to attend the “Berklee College of Music” in Boston, Massachusetts;

“Emanuele Rossi” scholarship to attend the Siena Jazz summer seminars;

First prize at the Crescendo competition in Palermo (PA);

First prize and special “Orchestra” prize at the “Placido Mandanici” competition in Barcelona P.G. (ME).
